“I’m not afraid of hard work. I’m afraid of hard work that doesn’t pay.”
Be brave enough to admit defeat if it isn’t working out. After all ‘when one door closes another opens’ so said Alexander Graham Bell… and he went on to invent the first telephone so I would like to think he knew a little something about opportunity.
The same principle applies to writing. Don’t be afraid to discard bad content. If it isn’t working out there is probably a reason for it. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is stop and say enough is enough.
It does not mean giving up, or even discarding the idea entirely; it means that it may be time to take a step back and re-evaluate. Just remember that there is always tomorrow and there is always going to be a bigger and better idea.
Continue to write by all means, but do not forget that the aim is to take risks, dispose of bad content and figure out how to write well.
